Keeping Schools COVID-19 Free: Student Face Mask Expectations

All students* in Pre-K through grade 12 ARE REQUIRED to wear a mask over their nose and mouth (no valves/vented masks) on buses, other District vehicles, inside school buildings, and anywhere on school grounds, including outside. Face masks must be properly worn, covering the student’s mouth and nose. The use of neck gaiters as a face covering is discouraged.

Round Rock ISD to continue curbside meal distribution, adjust service locations during June

In efforts to continue serving families as effectively and safely as possible, adjustments to Round Rock ISD Curbside Meal Distribution Program will take place after the academic school year ends on May 21. This includes extending curbside meal distribution service through June 30 and adjusting distribution locations starting on May 26 as a result of construction projects taking place at Hernandez Middle School, Caldwell Heights, Double File Trail, Anderson Mill, and Forest North elementary schools.

Teachers add student group video chat option

Beginning next week, Round Rock ISD teachers will use Google Meet to host check-ins with groups of students as an extension of our asynchronous learning model. We recognize the critical importance of the student-teacher connection and we are asking our teachers to provide at least one opportunity a week for students to join in a video chat through Google Meet. Your student’s participation in these video conferences is optional.

In Round Rock ISD, we believe strongly in serving the “whole student”, particularly during these unprecedented times. Though schools  are closed, counseling services and behavioral health resources and educational materials are available for both parents and students to access any time of day. COVID-19 Update: Staff Diagnosis

Our District was informed that a Round Rock ISD employee has received a positive diagnosis of COVID-19. This employee is a food service worker who most recently prepared and distributed curbside meals at Anderson Mill Elementary School. The employee’s last day on campus was Tuesday, March 31.

Need-based Chromebook Distribution Rescheduled for April 8

Need-based Chromebook distribution has been rescheduled for April 8 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Round Rock High School. The curbside distribution will take place to the south of the school’s main entrance, located at 201 Deep Wood Dr, Round Rock, TX 78681. Towards the pool and main entrance area of the gymnasium.

Launching at-home learning and addressing grades

Welcome Back! That’s what our teachers and administrators will be saying to our 51,000 students on Monday, April 6, when our students officially begin instruction and learning in our new, at-home environment. I know this new at-home learning approach raises many questions about how students will be graded for the remainder of the year. We have developed an FAQ addressing grades, GPA, Rank in Class, and promotion. The information is included at the end of this email and is also available on our District’s COVID-19 website.
