The Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD) announced Monday, November 15, that the health authority will be using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Data Tracker for determining risk-based phases in Williamson County. The phases are used to inform the public of the COVID-19 community transmission risk. Currently, the CDC Data Tracker has Williamson County at Orange/Substantial Community Transmission.

Due to this change, Round Rock ISD is dropping to Orange/Stage 4 on the District’s Mask Matrix. Masks are still required in District schools and facilities in this phase. Students and staff may opt-out of the mask requirement for health or developmental reasons. For exemptions, parents, guardians, and staff must complete their respective forms. Once completed, parents and guardians can submit a copy of their form and provide any documentation through the Mask Exemption Document Form. Staff will turn in their completed form and/or appropriate documentation to their immediate supervisor. Students and staff who previously submitted forms do not need to resubmit.

Currently, Austin/Travis County is in Phase 3 according to Austin Public Health’s risk-based guidelines. The District’s Mask Matrix is based on the risk-based phases of Austin Public Health and the WCCHD. If the two indicators suggest different levels, the District’s stage will reflect the higher threshold.
