Parents, students and staff at Stony Point High School were notified today that the campus will be temporarily closed for on-campus instruction, effective immediately, due to the number of positive COVID-19 cases and close contacts.

All Stony Point High School students will continue learning remotely through Monday, Nov. 30. (November 23-27 are student holidays. Students do not need to log in on those days.) The campus will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 1.  All extracurricular activities are suspended during this time.

To help determine if the campus needed to transition to virtual learning to help reduce potential spread, the District worked closely with local health agencies and assessed data such as positive cases, close contacts, on-campus enrollment and staff numbers. The WCCHD also advised the district to transition to virtual as a result of the COVID-19 trends at the campus. Ultimately, after taking all of that into consideration, the District  determined it would be in the best interests of  students and staff safety  totransition to virtual learning for two weeks. The length of time a campus remains closed is based on the recommendation from the health department in an effort to reduce transmission. During school closures, all areas of the campus will be deep cleaned and sanitized using hospital-grade disinfectants before the campus reopens for on-campus instruction.

Families are encouraged to stay connected to the District’s website, Reimagining Education page, Facebook, and Twitter pages for the latest news related to campus operations.
