Round Rock ISD has been selected as one of seven public school districts across Texas to be included in the inaugural Premier Leadership Program at the Holdsworth Center.

The Holdsworth Center, founded by H-E-B Chairman and CEO Charles Butt, aims to support and develop public school leaders in order to improve, over time, the quality of education offered to every child in every classroom in Texas, according to the organization.

“This is a world-class opportunity for a world-class school district and we are proud to be selected to participate in this elite group,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores said. “In Round Rock ISD, we are committed to growing leaders in education who can support and challenge all students. I look forward to working with this groundbreaking program, as we continue to build the Destination District for Public Schools.”

According to the organization, districts were selected based on their demonstration of an existing commitment to human capital and talent development and alignment of vision among the superintendent, key leadership team members and the board of trustees.

The program, beginning in June 2017, will occur over a five-year period. The inaugural program cohort will consist of current superintendents and key members of District leadership with a focus to equip superintendents and their teams with the vision and skills needed to design and lead strategic leadership development systems and deliver a transformational personal leadership experience.

“We are excited to begin our first program with a strong group of districts who have dynamic leaders at the helm,” said Kate Rogers, executive vice president of The Holdsworth Center. “Though all seven are doing great work, they’ve identified areas where they can improve and are open to creative solutions. Our staff is eager to help. In the end, the work we will do together benefits students by ensuring that every school has a great leader.”

Through a unique set of experiences including, exposure to the best leadership experts in the country, facilitated lectures with renowned faculty and group discussion, participants at The Holdsworth Center will explore their personal leadership in a setting that promotes reflection, thought and dialogue. Classes and team projects will focus on critical topics such as change management, effective teaming and best practices in talent management.

“Round Rock ISD has a wealth of talented individuals who are ready to step up and serve our community,” Board of Trustees President Diane M. Cox said. “Our selection by the Holdsworth Center provides our District with an outstanding opportunity to further build our leadership capacity in our District.”
