Five student-athletes at Cedar Ridge High School celebrated signing early letters of intent to continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level at a Nov. 9 ceremony.
Nov. 9 marked the first day of early signing for all sports except football, allowing student-athletes to officially make a commitment to a collegiate sports program. The National Letter of Intent is a commitment between the athlete and the collegiate institution. The National Letter of Intent is issued to prospective student-athletes with a scholarship.
“The Cedar Ridge community takes pride in our student-athletes who exemplify dedication and commitment to their sport and academic standing,” Cedar Ridge Principal Lynette Thomas said. “We are proud to continue our support of these outstanding athletes as they advance their athletic careers across Texas.”
Student athletes signed letters surrounded by friends and family and posed for photos during the morning ceremony.
“It was one of the most thrilling moments of my life,” said Kendall Achilles, Cedar Ridge student-athlete. “I can’t thank my parents, coaches, and friends enough for all the encouragement. I’m very excited to step foot onto campus and show everyone what I can do.”

- Jordan Scherer, volleyball, Sul Ross University,
- Imani Spicer, volleyball, Bloomfield University,
- Tim Holland, men’s basketball, University of Texas at Arlington,
- Breanna Hernandez, softball, University of Incarnate Word and
- Kendall Achilles, baseball, University of Incarnate Word.
