Construction for Phase 3 of Westwood High School’s renovation is scheduled to begin in Summer 2016 and expected to be completed in Summer 2017.

The upcoming phase — one of four phases — will concentrate on Wings D and E of the school. Science labs, Career and Technical Education, academic support and administration, and special education areas will receive improvements and upgrades. The HVAC and lighting systems for general learning spaces/classrooms will also be completed in Phase 3.

Funding for the project was approved through the successful May 2014 Bond Election. The renovation is still in the design phase, so neither students nor staff will be affected by the process in Fall 2015 or Spring 2016. Once construction begins, portables will arrive on campus to provide temporary classrooms. Any relocations will be scheduled with advance notice.

The first two phases of the program, funded by the 2006 and 2008 Bond Programs, were completed in early 2012. These phases included a secure new main entry, additional classroom and lab space, an expanded library, the ninth grade center, increased on-site parking, a practice gymnasium, and an expanded and relocated cafeteria. The first two phases also included improved site infrastructure and engineering systems, relocated the athletic field, and enhanced campus security.
