Every campus in Round Rock ISD has met the State’s new Accountability Standards, according to data released today by the Texas Education Agency.

With an accountability system revised this year by the Texas Legislature’s HB 3, schools statewide are now rated as either Met Standard or Improvement Required.

All Round Rock ISD schools – and the district as a whole – achieved the Met Standard rating. In addition, 31 Round Rock ISD campuses won a total of 65 Distinction Designations for achievement in specific accountability measures.

As expressed through the “Performance Index Framework,” the new accountability standards measure:

  1. Student Achievement – Performance based on satisfactory student achievement across all subjects for all students.
  2. Student Progress – Actual student growth independent of overall achievement levels for each race/ethnicity student group, students with disabilities, and English language learners.
  3. Closing Performance Gaps – Academic achievement of economically disadvantaged students and the two lowest performing ethnic student groups.
  4. Postsecondary Readiness – Importance for students to receive a high school diploma that provides the foundation for success in college or the workplace; and the role of elementary and middle schools in preparing students for high school.

In this new accountability system, each Performance Index has a numerical target score determined by the State. Schools and districts’ performance related to the target scores determine their rating of either Met Standard or Improvement Required. All target scores must be met or exceeded to attain a Met Standard rating. Under the new system, a rating reflects overall performance, rather than the weakest performance of a single indicator as in the previous system.

“We are very proud of our schools’ performance. This assessment gives us a baseline for continued improvement toward our goals for providing a 21st century education,” Superintendent Jesús H. Chávez said.

“The new system reflects the commitment of Round Rock ISD to ensuring that all children learn, and graduate prepared to succeed in higher education or in a career.”
